It samples at a number of points each spaced 0.1 apart.
It tried to use ten points -.5, -.4, -.3, -.2, -.1, .1, .2, .3, .4 and .5.
If you set flag D, the infinity error wouldn't be raised and the derivative should fall back to a four or six point estimate if the ten fails.
Alternatively, change the dX it is using by defining the appropriate global label.
