HP15C-LE European deliveries
Message #1 Posted by Derek Walker (UK) on 23 Jan 2012, 5:16 a.m.

Availability of the 15C-LE in Europe has recently been quoted as 'mid January' (i.e. about a week ago) or 'week 4 of 2012' (about now).

I have two on order from a UK supplier, who sent me this e-mail last Saturday:

We have now been advised by HP that the 15C will not be available until February. We have been pressing them for a definitive date but are still awaiting confirmation.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

If you wish your order to be cancelled please advise otherwise we will keep it on backorder for you.

Having waited this long (and having bought one US model), I will keep them on order, but I wonder what has caused this further delay? If they are coming from China by ship, one would expect the arrival date to have been fixed some time ago.

I'm in the same boat, but only ordered one unit.

I too will wait ... it's been so long already.

I contacted the distributor of HP-calculators in The Netherlands (who previously had indicated the 15C LE would be available by mid-january)some 2 weeks ago and he gave me the same info: february. HP, what is going on?

I got one in CH from a CH shop.

How can one see whether it's a European version or not?

Its serial number is above 11000. Its firmware is dated april 2011 though.

Apparently they have different part numbers:

.... they will be a different part number than the US ones (#B1S instead of #ABA)."
From: The Calculatorstore blog: And finally ... there are here!!!

They're probably busy fixing the firmware. :-)

I would happily wait two more months, if they got it right (LSE and power consumption) for the next batch. Long live the concept of a bug free european batch!

Optimist makes the world go round! Yes, money too, Liza :P

Cheers Paulo

I once thought the batch that arrived in Hong Kong was bug free. I don't think they'll do anything exclusively for the European batch. You will soon be disappointed!

I agree with your sentiment, I do not think the firmware will be fixed, but the keyboard issue should be fixed.

I have received now a HP-15C LE from an European supplier (www.thecalculatorstore.com).

Firmware is still dated 2011-04-15 and it still has the PAUSE bug.

But the keyboard is nice and fully working.

So, it looks like there is not really a change for Europe.
