a bunch of brand new 71b's on Ebay
Message #1 Posted by Don Shepherd on 11 Dec 2011, 10:22 a.m.

If you're willing to spend $600 for a brand new 71b, this might interest you.

I have no affiliation with this auction. Ebay ID neer_do_well.

He did not show documentation (manuals)

Yeah, you're right. From the size and appearance of the boxes, it appears to be like a shipment to a business who is buying a lot of these, rather than a retail package to be sold in a store, so maybe the manuals weren't part of the package. He says it only includes the calculator and the zipper case. Buyer beware.

The main photos show a bare bones 71B, but the photo below shows one with a card reader. Given the disclaimer, I'm betting the first photos are correct. Given that, and IMHO, these aren't worth $599.00, NIB or not.

Yeah, the photo below was obviously stolen from this site, the seller didn't even airbrush MoHPC out. What a jerk. I agree, I wouldn't pay that price for a NIB unit.

The translation Google comes up with contains a description that sounds like he's listing the things you can add to a 71B, particularly a Forth module and an HP-IL interface, but that those aren't actually included. If that's the case, then this is another outrageously priced machine. Even if those items were included, the price is still too high.

The sentence where he mentions the Forth module isn't correct german. It makes no sense as it is.

The sentence where he mentions the HP-IL leaves it open if he lists something this machine could do (by adding something) or if this particular machine can do it. I think it's deliberately misleading.

I don't trust him.
