Re: Need a new toy. 48g or 50g? Message #3 Posted by Egan Ford on 21 Oct 2011, 6:37 p.m., in response to message #1 by JamesT
50g:
- Larger, clearer display.
- Can run off batteries or USB power.
- USB and Serial ports.
- SD Card for storage.
- Less Ugly keyboard colors, however the 48G does have the Holy Grail of calculator keys--a large Enter.
- Can be programmed in C and ARM ASM for speed.
- Comes with warranty.
- Can run 41, 42, 15C, etc... emulators.
- It's a toy and a tool.
- No assembly required.
Do you have a 34S yet? Currently my favorite toy.
- Smaller display.
- Can run off batteries.
- Serial port only, can drain batteries.
- Some limited flash storage.
- Does have the Holy Grail of calculator keys--a large Enter. Good color scheme.
- Can be programmed in C and ASM for speed, but with a lot of care.
- Comes with warranty. Sorta of.
- Can run 41, 42, 15C, 16C, etc... RPN code with little change. It's kinda the 'Swiss Army Knife' of RPN calculators. It has a zillion functions that you'll never use. But just the knowledge that you could completely rebuild any advance civilization with it is reason enough to get one and take it everywhere you go. (Pack extra batteries).
- It's a toy and a tool.
- Some assembly required.
