hp 15C LE Message #1 Posted by William L. Drylie on 14 Sept 2011, 8:33 a.m. I don't know about others on this forum, but I am just really happy to have the 15C back again, loose keys, bugs and all. I lost my original about 5 years ago to a strong EMP. A tech tried to fix it, too much damage. That series was a true shirt pocket calculator. While I occasionally use my 12C for financial matters, it's really useless for my work. I really do not see why hp stopped manufacturing the 15C, along with the 12C, they have such a great form factor. One Science, One Business. If hp is going to continue manufacturing calculators, I think the 15C should be a Standard edition and not a Limited one. They could ditch the 35S, and that other one that looks like an automobile grill. Those two don't even fit in your pocket well. If the new 15C is hard on batteries, so be it, I'll buy extra. The old one was all I needed at work, and the new one will be too! Well done hp, well done.

Even though I noticed the f and g keys slightly askew, I think the keyboard feels better than on my 16C. Finally I have something decent to use at work.

You may want to get in your car and start driving, because the NCEE folks will be upon you with their pitchforks shortly. :)

Drylie I am very happy with the HP15C LE and if we get updates (which should be possible since it is flashable) it would be near perfect for an everyday carry machine. Actually I like the 35S if they would only fix it. Better yet change the LCD and re-implement it as a 42Sii or 43S (IMHO the 42S was the best RPN calculator HP ever made barring the lack of I/O). Admittedly, I got the 35s because I really thought it superior to the 33s. But after using both, I much prefer using the 33s on an everyday basis. It may not look nearly as nice as the 35s, and I myself was fairly vocal in panning the appearance of the 33s, but in terms of ease of use and feeling good in the hand during use, to me, the 33s wins hands down.

I bought it anyway cause it was the only available non graphic RPN at that time. And I must confess the 33s grew on me. I like the unshifted x2, SQRT. I also got used to the "weird" key alignment and the small ENTER is not an issue anymore. Only downgrade is that the "0" key sometimes doesn´t register and the very poor contrast of the green and purple key legend.
