Interesting European market HP-32E
Message #1 Posted by Michael de Estrada on 12 June 2011, 12:05 p.m.

I found this interesting German market HP-32E with periods for 1000s delimiters and a comma for the decimal point. The seller is in Belgium and it was manufactured in Singapore. Note that the serial number has an asterisk (*) preceding it. I have seen this previously with a Brazilian made Spice, and a "normal" calc with commas for 1000s separators and a period for the decimal point can be coverted to reverse them by cutting a jumper on the power circuit board inside the calc.

If I'm not mistaken, this is a feature depending on a jumper setting on one of the calculator boards.

Correct.

Procedure was discussed a couple of years ago on this very forum: here.

And quoting Luiz:

"Jumper closed - dot for radix mark

Jumper opened - comma for radix mark"

Luiz, we miss you.

BTW... a procedure can be found documented:here

...and a picture...

On the pic: "Jumper opened - comma for radix mark"

...the way it should always be :-)))

on the 34s and elsewhere...

Cheers to all!

Vraimant c|:-) We feature a command called SETEUR (stored in MODE) doing exactly what you have in mind. And if it's only for the radix mark, h-shifted point will do the toggling.

Bonsoir Walter,

Of course I use SETEUR every time I reflash and erase my 34s.

My statement was just a small joke to remind a couple of us we had this discussion with Luiz a couple of years ago.

Btw, congratulations and a warm thank you for the great work you did with the 34s.

I think that calc is perfectly "normal" from my point of view... ;-)

Greetings,
Massimo

P.S. :-)
SPECIAL-NAMES.
DECIMAL-POINT IS COMMA.

Sorry for the mistake, Massimo!

The other possibility, Massimus, would remain unnoticed, I guess :-)

Cheers,

Gerson.

You are VERY welcome Bart.

Thanks to your kindness I have again my first scientific calculator and the only non HP in the collection - the Panasonic JE-5001U - that was stolen from me at college in 1976.

Cheers, Wanderley

And thanks to you, I obtained my first LED HP calculator. (I have since obtained a HP-45, these are now the only 2 LED HP's I currently have).

Cheers, Bart
