NaN issue in Hercules

Sooo many calculator enthousiasts but where are the IEEE gurus who want to go down in history? This append I found on the hercules-390 Discussion group. It reminds me somewhat the Free42 vs Free42BCD. Does that help in this case or is the implementation of IEEE an new issue on a different CPU? (The mentioned ieee.c you find in the source tarball on this site.)
