Invisible message passing Message #1 Posted by Jim Yohe on 1 Apr 2011, 6:30 p.m. In MoHPC's information about the HP-48S/SX's infrared output a statement says, "HP limited the range of 2-way communication at the request of teachers who were nervous about invisible message passing". Now-a-days, of course, you can't stop students from passing messages short of taking their cell phones away from them ... which I think would be a great idea. ;-)

Students can keep their phone in their pocket (or purse), but if a teacher sees the student in class with a phone, it then belongs to the principal. The school at which I teach (a private boarding school) prohibits cell phones and all electronic devices. Public schools probably couldn't get away with that.

They learned to do it entirely by feel. So the only hard part was sneaking a peek at the phone to read the messages.

FutureWorld?
