Interesting Avionics HP-67 on TAS
Message #1 Posted by Michael de Estrada on 29 Mar 2011, 9:36 p.m.

Browsing TAS I saw this interesting Avionics HP-67. IIRC, something like this was for sale previously, but it wasn't clear what it actually was or how it worked. Perhaps someone here will recognize it.

Very interesting! I've owned an HP-67 since 1977, yet this application is one I've never seen, nor heard mentioned.

You also find the Control Unit itself on TAS. The device is also pictured on a brochure in the HP-67 auction, unfortunately, the HP-67 covers most of it. The third device involved seems to be the monitor. But I don't know what this is all about ...

This has come up before. See discussions here and a followup here.

(and some more posts too I think)

I found a couple of references to the BX2000 avionics system. Apparently the calculator was used as both a storage device for loading way points and could also be used as a keyboard for numerical entry. One reference noted that the "controller/programmer" was a TI SR-52; not sure if that's a mistake or if they used both calculators at some point.
