HP-35S hung in "Memory Clear" loop?
Message #1 Posted by Scott Newell on 18 Feb 2011, 11:04 a.m.

Using my 35S this morning, it missed a keystroke, then started flashing "MEMORY CLEAR". I've yanked the coin cells (which measure about 2.8V each) and left them out 30 minutes or so: no help. I tried some self test key combinations: no help. I've shorted out the coin cell terminals: no help.

Is there anything else I can try?

I think you have to use a paper clip to hit the reset button on the back of the calculator. You will lose all programs and equations you entered, but you really don't have much of a choice.

Thanks, that worked.
