Ebay: Comedy or Tragedy? Message #1 Posted by uhmgawa on 12 Dec 2010, 8:27 p.m. Someone should be keeping a scrapbook of these deals. I'm unsure whether the jpeg or the shipping deal is more entertaining. Edited: 12 Dec 2010, 11:01 p.m. after one or more responses were posted

Yes, the "Link" feature can be utilized to hide a URL if desired, although it can be somewhat of a hassle. It IS indeed a hassle for the reader to get to the URL. You must know that. It's a mind-numbingly simple process for one who makes a post to properly reference a URL that can be reached with one click. Many will not bother finding an improperly posted URL. If one wishes to maximize the probability that someone will look at the URL that one references, then one must use the method that the list provides. Otherwise one says in effect that it's not very important to see, or "I'm too lazy to do the job correctly". I NEVER look at URLs that are not *properly* included in a posting. I know I'm not alone. So I can take just the item number and search for it. In a hidden "one click" link as above, I now first have to "copy link location" and paste into Notepad, then select the item number to paste into a search box.

Taken to its logical conclusion, one so offended by a wayward URL might avoid the associated thread altogether.

Seems to me the battle is between "I'm too lazy to do the job correctly" and "I'm too lazy to follow URLs I don't like the look of" ;-)
