50g and Windows 7
Message #1 Posted by John Cadick on 20 Sept 2010, 6:38 p.m.

I am trying to get my 50g to communicate with my Win7 computer (32 bit). I installed HP Connect (ver 2.3 Build 2439) and it went flawlessly. I plug the 50g into the computer (USB) and win7 sees it and starts looking for the driver which, of course. It cannot find.

When Win7 gets tired it let's me try to install the driver manually. Now things get confusing. win7 gives me a list of hardware types to choose from. Which one do I choose? Win7 won't let me install a driver without telling it the type of hardware.

My Internet search for an answer has found nothing.

Help.

John

You didnt mention this so I thought I would ask. Did you start the server on the 50g?

Thanks for the suggestion, Jerry. I did have the server turned on , but with no driver installed it didn't work.

Anyhow, Tim gave me the link to the correct server.

You need to download an updated driver, but the driver has not yet been flagged as supporting 32 bit also and so it doesn't show up on the Win 7 32 bit page. If you select Windows 7 -64 bit on the support page, it will download an installer that installs either 32 or 64 bit. I am going to link there directly, but it may not be a static link.

Thanks a bunch, Tim. Downloaded, installed, and connected.

I'm really looking forward to seeing you at HHC. Hope everything is going well.
