Arrested and charged with "calculating."
Message #1 Posted by Bill Zimmerly on 13 July 2010, 11:06 a.m.

One website I visit daily is "Mathematician of the Day" and I found the story of John Dee particularly interesting. How refreshing it is to live in the times that we all live in...

Well, I imagine if you showed up in the 1940s with a 48gx people would think you were an alien or something.

What about an HP-10C in the late 17th century?

eh, I'm pretty sure that'd just be sorcery/magic. You wouldn't get dissected, just burned at the stake or dunked :-P

Great story, BTW. I'd imagine Newton would have been quite amazed by an HP 10c (Although I suspect he too would have suspected magic)

Sad story, all in all.

Indeed, a sad story... and at that, I'm heading back to my sorcery... I mean math.
