OT: Blackberry LifeScan barcode capture
Message #1 Posted by hpnut on 19 June 2010, 6:16 a.m.

Hi all.

LifeScan is a barcode capture program for most cellphones with cameras. I installed it on my Blackberry and took a snapshot of the barcode on the back of the HP 30b calculator.

After the software processes the scanned barcode, I got this image on my Blackberry:

it's kinda fun snapping various barcodes of items in my house and finding what they represent. a truly geeky pastime :-)

Hi,
a single barcode contains that much informations, I mean including the enconding of the picture also?!
I am rather surprised. If someone could explain, I would be pleased to learn about this.
Anyway, thanks for posting this.
Kind regards.

Oh, I'm sure the barcode number links to a database somewhere that contains all that stuff.
