Hi;
please, when you compare both MMI, what similarities do you refer to? The HP48G/GX/G+ inheritance is actually a fact, because the HP50G is based on them although having a different hardware (processor, OS, I/O ports) and keyboard layout. Both series show information through the LCD that shares: - menus with softkeys;
- header with same annunciators;
- stack levels (the HP48GII, HP49G+ and HP50G add the history for algebraic mode)
- equation writer
- matrix writer and many other features. If this is what you are referring to, I consider it normal. But the HP50G has many new stuff not available with the 48G series, and the three of them that called my attention are:- upgradeable OS (since the HP49G)
- expandable memory through SD card (since the HP49G+)
- USB port (also since the HP49G+) People should be careful about the HP48GII that has a serial, RS232 compatible I/O port instead of a USB, because it uses a connector commonly known as 'mini-USB'.
Cheers.
