Publisher of HP-related books Message #1 Posted by JJB299 on 30 May 2010, 11:10 a.m. Does anyone know of a publisher that has produced books in the past that are about HP calculators? Or non-HP calcs? If not calculators, then other handhelds/laptops from HP? Thanks. Cheers(just trying it on). -Justin

I'd search there first. As for books for HP calculators, well they are only old books you may find on eBay and also Amazon. What is available is based on what sellers happen to have for sale. Namir

TK enterprises published a book on RPN. Wilson Barnet (Guy Ball's father in law) published the Collector's Guide to Pocket Calculators. Dr. Mier-Jedrzejowicz self published his great collection of (mostly) other peoples' essays about HP & RPN. Synthetix of Berkeley California published the books on the 41 by Kieth Jarret and others D'Zign (Ted & Phylis Kerber) published many books of surveying and geometry programs for the 67,41,42,& 48 series. Most could come with mag cards or discs. There's more that i'm not remembering.

Tony Hutchins has a very detailed book on the TVM using calculators but I believe it is out of print. I am fortunate enough to have one.

There was HP 48 Insights and HP 41/48 Transitions published by Larken Publications. HP 48 Handbook and The HP 48 Programmer's ToolKit published by Armstrong Publishing Company.

This book contains 35 programs dealing with various intermediate- and advanced-level mathematical topics, such as continued fraction representation of real numbers, Aitken-Steffensen iteration, exponentiation of power series, complete elliptic integrals, Bessel functions, and so on. Amazon is currently listing four used copies, starting (unfortunately) at $59.97.

Also, you could try GU (Great Unpublished - link seems not to work, though) They published many of Urroz's books about the HP48G series. (added) I found this reference and after that I found this one which points to this one... which points to nowhere. I think I found nothing, though. As a humble reference of mine, Brazilian Erica publisher printed 'Da HP41 para a HP48' ('From the HP41 to the HP48'), written by me in the mid 90's (Portuguese only... so far). There are some other books printed in Brazil about calculators, and I happen to have a printed copy of 'Usando a HP41CV na Engenharia' (Using the HP41CV in Engineering), by Mirshawka, V. printed by Brazilian Nobel publisher. Please check out the Calculator literature list on the HP Museum DVD2. It comprises almost 800 book references sorted by subject, with ISBN number, page number etc (if available). A discussion of this list can be found in Datafile V29N1P7. The English books mentioned in this thread should be in the list. I will include Luiz Viera's books and would be grateful to receive more information about those books. In fact I would be grateful for all information about books not yet included in the list. Hi db, guys; I'll compile all information I have about these books. I also have four Urroz's publications, originally from GU, all of them about the HP48G series. As the HP48 has already been discontinued, I believe it is already a museum electable item, right? IŽll post about these later. In time: will the HP12C literature be considered here?
