Sick HP40G
Message #1 Posted by Nicholas Cole on 18 Mar 2010, 3:08 a.m.

I have a HP40G which is reluctant to turn on and off; if I use the solution suggested for sick HP42S, pressing on the keyboard just below the screen, it works, but I would like to open it up and substitute something for the foam which apparently doesn't fill its role and maintain a good contact.

The HP40G is a sort of clamshell design in 2 parts clipped or glued together, with no overlay for the keyboard, and no screws I can find anywhere. The solution must be to prise apart the two halves of the machine. I've tried, timidly, but I fear damage if I apply more force.

Has anybody done this, or have ideas on how to do it ? Any hidden claws, anything that slides ? Thanks in advance, Nicholas
