I think the seller is trying to get the attention of the collectors for the other models who scan auctions by keywords in the title. I am not sure that this is acceptable with eBay (I may be way wrong) because it can be confusing and misleading.

Yes, it violates two eBay policies. One, that a seller must describe the item that he is selling accurately. And two, that a seller may not use 'keyword spamming' in attempt to hijack searches for other items to his item.
If someone were to buy this item and not receive what was described in the title, they could make a lot of trouble for the seller since ebay would automatically find in the favor of the buyer for any dispute. "Item misrepresentation."

Smart sellers get around this rule by this kind of subterfuge:
"HP 71B calculator NOT 41C..." etc.
Accomplishes the same purpose without being technically inaccurate.

That works for the first requirement of using an accurate item description in the title. It still is considered keyword spamming by ebay.

or report it to ebay? I had a listing taken down for far less egregious reasons (I had the audacity to accept CASH!!)

My brother wondered about this once. You can't buy stocks with cash. Yet U.S. money says right on the bills, "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private."

If they don't give you the stock, you don't have a debt to them. It's a different situation than if you eat at a restaurant then try to pay with cash; at that point they can't refuse to accept the cash.

I quit using ebay since nearly if not ALL transactions insist upon paypal (sweet deal for ebay, since they own paypal).
