HP9835 system Message #1 Posted by Bo in Lund (SE) on 28 Oct 2009, 7:02 a.m. Hi! I have extensively of HP9835A manuals and info. The 9835 is not exactly a calculator, but it is listed here. I also have some standard pack software backed up on floppy. Would likely be possible to write new cassettes from the backup!

The minicartridge drive likely has suffered "gummy capstan" aging, where the rubber on the capstan has turned to goo. In addition, any old tapes you have likely have died as the adhesion is lost between the mylar backing and the oxide coating that stores the magnetic bits. Rodríguez (Argentina) on 2 Nov 2009, 8:54 a.m., in response to message #2 by Steve Leibson IIRC, those cartridges use a clever mechanism with a belt that works in contact with the external surface of each tape reel; I would check if such belts had not turned themselves into goo or something similar....
