HP50G related: is it just me or this is new?
Message #1 Posted by Vieira, Luiz C. (Brazil) on 9 Oct 2009, 3:23 p.m.

Hi, everybody.

Some time ago I was lurking around the forum, just randomly reading the posts, and someone mentioned this stuff with the complaint that it was not HP49/50G addressed, only HP39/40G. A few weeks ago, I red this thread and decided to upgrade my HP49G (test driver) prior to upgrade the HP50G. It was a big surprise to see that the APPS menu offered, along with the equation library (12th. entry) and the periodic table (13th. entry), a StreamSmart menu (14th. entry). Was the StreamSmart menu available in previous O.S. versions for the HP49/50G or is this the first one?

Please, if this is yesterday news, let me know and forgive me...

Cheers.

That is the first one. Is that a 49G you installed it on. . . or a g+? As far as I know it shouldn't boot on a 49G.

Hi, Tim;

you are correct, it worked fine the HP49G+ and the HP50G. I did not test it in the HP49G (should not work, you are correct). I do not have a Stream Smart (yet...) to test it, but the OS ran smooth in both calculators.

In time: I added a 1GB SD card to the HP50G (long time ago) and tried to format it with the calculator OS. Did not succeed formatting the card with all available space, but after formatting through the computer (FAT32, 512K/cluster) the calculator saw the hole 1GB. I wonder if this new version allows formatting a card that big.

Cheers.
