HP 35s: Killed by software?
Message #1 Posted by Peter Niessen on 30 June 2009, 12:20 p.m.

Hi, malheur de malheur:

I just typed

SOLVE R

on it, the busy indicator went on, after a few seconds the display went dark and can't be switched on again.

Similar experiences?

Cheers, Peter.

Took batteries out and in again, came back with memory clear message. Seems to be fine now.

If the batteries are not new, I think it's possible that the batteries are weakened to a point where heavy-duty computations draw more current than the batteries can handle, causing a blackout that would require a reset.

Good to know your 35s wasn't killed by software... like virus. :)

BTW, if this happens again, try the RESET hole on the back. It might save removing/re-inserting the batteries.
