RPN or algebraic

Received from Kenneth Kuhn in an exchange. The good news is that this year I have the best batch of students I have had in a very long time. The bad news is that none of them use HP calculators and most seem to have an aversion to them. So the nice methods in your paper are lost to them. They spend a horrific amount of time doing calculations with their TI and Casios -- calculations you or I could do in seconds with an RPN HP. I just do not know what the world is coming to. How could we go backwards over the years. Last year I showed the few students who did have an HP some of the methods you and I use and they were impressed at how fast calculations could be done. Although they had an HP calculator they were not aware of how to make use of RPN Sam designnut@cox.net
