12c delete last digit
Message #1 Posted by robert arbon on 26 Jan 2009, 4:32 a.m.

Hi, this is really bugging me because I'm sure (positive!) I read in a manual that when entering a number there is a way of deleting the last digit and re-entering another one.

e.g.

1 2 3 4

ooops! I meant 1235

delete 4

press 5

display = 1235

is there a way of doing it?

I'm not too bothered if I can't do this on the calculator, but I'm just so sure I saw it described this post is about proving my sanity.

Nope. 12C is very old-fashioned in this respect. It always deletes the entire X-register.

Read about this fantastic machine and its development here on the Museum pages. http://www.hpmuseum.org/hp12c.htm

Bill is correct (of course) :D

On the original 12c, you can't do this.

However, on the 12c platinum and the 12c 25th anniversary edition, you can by pressing the blue g key and then the <- symbol on the right side of the keyboard. It will delete the last digit entered. Repeat these two key presses if you need to delete more than one digit.
