The PIL-Box, a new HP-IL <-> PC link solution
Message #1 Posted by J-F Garnier on 25 Oct 2008, 2:57 a.m.

This is the annoucement of my new HP-IL <-> PC link solution using my “PIL-Box”.

The PIL-Box is a HP-IL/Serial (RS232 or USB) translator. It uses NO OBSOLETE HP PARTS such as the HP-IL chip or the custom HP-IL pulse transformer. It aims to be an alternative to the old ISA HP-IL board (HP82973A) and to be compatible with most computers/OS that support RS232 or USB.

Some pictures on my HP-IL Web page.

I will present the PIL-Box with more details during the Allschwil meeting next week.

J-F

So a new HP 41CX communication device to the PC. It seems there are people helping to drag this tool into the 21st century.

I hope HP is taking note! Probably a whole industry out there waiting to be tapped. New replacement for the HP 41C with backwards adaptability, similar to the HP42S with computer support.

PS I would certainly put an order in for one when you have the process down. Gives us an update from Switzerlands meeting.

Cheers,Geoff
