Problem with HP48GX
Message #1 Posted by William on 25 Aug 2006, 12:24 p.m.

Need some help with a problem with my 48GX. I put in three rows of numbers (3 (enter) 5 (enter) 7 (enter)) when I press the + sign it will add the lower two number (5+7=12) and then automatically multiples it by the remaining number 3 to give me 36. The problem is similar with the other keys. It also freezes up when I try to turn it off.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, William

Have you tried pressing the reset button through the hole on the back of the calculator? If yes or this does not work, the next most radical procedure is pressing ON plus A plus F at the same time to completely reset the memory. Warning - you will lose all programs and data on the calculator! If these actions don't produce positive results, it sounds like you have a may have a stuck key. Search for posts from Randy Sloyer and/or Han for discussion of key and other repair.
