serial number
Message #1 Posted by don on 12 Aug 2006, 12:41 p.m.

From seller..."The serial number is id71304371." This is the serial number on an HP 10B (on E-bay). Any ideas what year this was manufactured? and where?

many thanks

ID = Indonesia 7 = 1997 13 = 13th week

Not sure whether it's the 13th calendar week or 13th fiscal week of 1997, but either way, you have a sense of when/where your 10B was made.

thanks Scuba...1997 must have been a changeover year in serial numbers on the 10B. I have a 10B with serial number 3614M....which would indicate 1996 manufacture date. I'm one of the lucky guys who bought a few Astech cases for my calcs. My work calcs are encased in Astechs.

Yes, 1997 seems to represent a changeover in how the serial number is represented. I have a 48GX with the serial number 3702SXXXXX so it looks like they switched at some point between weeks 2 and 17.

If you keep them in the Astec case, they'll last forever!
