How to halt green corrosion on HP45 copper battery contacts in battery bay?
Message #1 Posted by Jason on 30 June 2006, 11:07 p.m.

Hi forum, I have been having a problem with green corrosion scale build-up on one of the copper battery contacts in the battery bay cavity of my HP45 (the battery pack itself is perfect). Strangely it only happens on one of the battery contact prongs. Any way to effectively clean the copper battery contact prong in the calculator to remove the green scale and corrosion, and permanently prevent the green scale build-up from re-occurring? Thanks Jason

I have had fairly good luck using a dremel/wire brush to remove the crud. Then treat it with Caig De-Oxit. You should be aware that microscopic residue can form corrosion centers that can spawn new growth. It's a whole lot like cancer. Leave one nasty cell behind and it can all start over again.
