co-dependerlin
Message #1 Posted by db (martinez, ca.) on 29 May 2006, 10:56 p.m.

I must admit to being a bit bemused by all the coburlin bashing here. I don't buy a lot on ebaby so he doesn't effect me much. However i do find him both pushy and offensive. I just put an auction up and in the first few minutes coburlin wanted a buy it now price. His request and my response are in the "questions from other members" section of the page at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9733794661&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

As Garrison Keillor once said:"ask a question, get and answer". Eboy didn't id him on the auction page. Should i have done that in my answer?

Haha - that's hilarious. If you'd mentioned his name it might have helped to alert other buyers/sellers to avoid him but it might also have been grounds for ebay to remove it, so it's probably better as is. There's probably enough information in there for people to surmise his identity. Well done!

Just happened on your auction, but didn't scroll down till the Q&A section...

Well done, Daniel!

Note that you can choose to block bids from particular eBay members. See: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/manage_bidders_ov.html#blocking

I suppose that a really determined bidder may just bid under an alternate identity though.

James

Daniel --

I fully agree that any requests to establish a BIN price -- and especially his requests -- are quite presumptuous, and deserve harsh rebukes. However, the "grieving widow" remark might have been a bit over the top. Also, was it ever ascertained whether those mocking comments about engineers in the MoHPC Forum were actually from the notorious eBay seller himself?

LOL - not much more to say

btw. he contacted me about selling me expensive "slightly used" stuff, since I did bid on similar items... I haven't found an option to block these questions or ebay-IDs :(

Indeed. Bravo.

Has anyone actually identified bubba and his location? That would be useful in case he uses multiple eBay IDs.

I know only that his selling pages list the "Item location" as "CA, United States", which has a lot of people. Someone who's actually done business with him would probably have a better idea.

Well, maybe. He does buy and sell under the same ID, and I don't see any particular reason to suspect that he uses multiple IDs, although of course I can't rule that out.

As a general rule, he doesn't bid very high, so if you really want an item that he's bidding on, then just outbid him.

James

If you have an eBay account, and publish another user's personal information, your account could be suspended. Just for your consideration.

If I were you I would simply tell him that the buy it now price is a million bucks. If he goes for it I would certainly sell it to him. It's simple business. If he starts to hagger then I would give him some preaching about reasonable price.
