To me, this product looks like having the same concept as the HP Expander (way back!). Main difference: here is a product! Will try to find out more ... d8-)

OK, they are going to present it in May. So far, I did not find a detailed specification of the user interface for the handheld. Maybe other people here are better investigators :-?

So far, it looks like it's something that's very much aimed at classroom use, under the direction of the teacher, rather than a calculator for the student to own. There's a lot of stuff mentioned about pedagogy, but nothing that I can see about personally useful features (such as programmability or personal organization). Plus, this doesn't look like the most portable or robust handheld I've ever seen, which suggests it's aimed at a controlled, indoor environment rather than a teenager's backpack.

The mid-May workshops also look like they're aimed at selling the concept to schools, presumably in the hope of getting package sales to schools or even whole school districts. Presumably the software will be aligned with the local curriculum, so more information about it should help identify the market opportunity that TI is aiming for.

Still, it's good to see TI trying to push things forward a bit.
