Question about HP 100/200LX's
Message #1 Posted by Han on 9 Apr 2006, 12:16 p.m.

Are the serial cables for these machines the same as the one for an HP38G? Or are the pinouts different despite the same number of pins? I did some research on it but I've gotten some answers saying yes, they are the same and others saying no they're not =( So does anyone know for a fact if they are the same/different?

Thanks! Han

Hello Han,

The serial cable for the HP-200LX is the same serial cable for the HP-48G/GX (HP-38G?). Mine reads F1015-80002 on the 9-pin RS-232 connector. However, when tranferring large files I prefer to use the built-in multi-card reader in my hp-7260 printer (you'd need a compatible CF card and a PCMCIA adapter, though).

Regards,

Gerson.

Hi Han,

Joe Horn made the Cable Table,
where you'll find info on nearly all
related adapters.

I have an adapter combination which will fit
on nearly all Clarke/Yorke machines
HP-48, HP-38G, 39G, 40G, 49G,
and the HP-95LX, HP-100LX, HP-200LX ,
maybe the OmniGo, too.

It's the F1015-80002 combined with the 5181-6643,
and at the end the special Y-adapter F1212-80001.

The latter is marked as rare bird in the Cable Table,
and was available only with the HP-38G overhead display.

Regards

Raymond

I do distinctly recall reading that the cables are different and damage can result. I cannot find it right now,(it was either here somewhere or hpcalc.org) but I would recommend proceeding with caution. Tomcee

Thank you all for your responses. In particular, thank you Raymond for the link to the cable page.
