Re: 50g vs. TI 83? Message #3 Posted by Tim Wessman on 13 Feb 2007, 3:36 p.m., in response to message #1 by Tadeyev
I have never once heard the TI-83 proposed as an alternative to the 50G. If you mean 89 instead, then that is a closer comparison. The 83 is closer to the 39/40 HP calculators which completely outclass it in terms of capability, but have very few games available.
If you were really meaning the 89. . .bottom line is this. If you are the type of person who likes to tinker and figure things out, you will love the 50G. It is not as easy to use, but has many more features and customizations that will make it work quicker for you ONLY IF YOU PUT TIME INTO LEARNING IT.
If you like not having to learn much, don't care about customization, etc. The 89 is a better choice.
There have been few complaints about the 50G. The only "major" complaint has been that it isn't a completely new calculator, but rather a fixed 49g+. I've been using my 50 for almost 2 years now and have no keyboard or hardware issues of any kind.
