Where to get low priced HP 50g in Europe
Message #1 Posted by cfh on 31 Jan 2007, 3:08 p.m.

Dear Forum,

Lurking here for some time, collecting and using the fantastic HP calculators. Could I be one of the younger user/collector here? Aged 32 - career started with 42s in 1990, and now I own 35, 28, 17, 19, 42, 48, 49+, 95 ...

Well, back to topic. As I have the money, I "need" the 50g. Period. Priced some 115$ in the US and A, and 2089 SEK here in Sweden, there is quite a gap in price (more like 298,50 - 115 = 183$ [!!!] ). Btw, what tool did I reach for, converting 2089 SEK into $? The 15c, of course! :o) (nice condition, but the silver paint on the plastic medallion weared down some). Pioneer and Voyager are my favourites.

Once again, back on topic: As a frequent flyer, where in Europe is the best deal for a 50g ? Or should I wait for the next business trip to US and A (Borat is funny, yes?) to add this gem to my desk?

Thank you all for your nice contributions to this forum!

cheers CF and H ;)

ps(pity I can't switch the cracked 42s LCD with the 17BII, as the 42 have the stepped bezel, and the 17 the rounded-sloped corners)ds

One good alternative is to buy from Eric at www.hpcalc.org

Good pricing and he'll ship to Europe.

Thank you for the reply. Yes indeed, hpcalc.org seems to be very attractive in price! 1130 SEK, or 157 $ with normal shipping (about half the price!).

cheers /cf

Ordered the 50g. Soon to be added to my collection :)

Another thing: the 12c Anniversary edition with the new nice leather pouch - is it a variant of the platinum edition? I want one, but not the Kinpo variant.

cheers Charles

It's a variant of the Platinum. It does have the more traditional coloring of the 12C, and it starts in RPN mode, but it's got the other features of the late Platinums. On the plus side, it's certainly nicer than the current 12C (except I prefer the 12C's old-style LCD).
