EMU48 (HP 48GX) prevent auto-shutoff?
Message #1 Posted by Gerard Pinzone on 30 Jan 2007, 3:50 p.m.

There's no reason to have an auto-shutoff when emulating a HP48GX using EMU48. Is there any way to turn off that feature?

Yes, there is way by patching the ROM. When you're using the lastest KML files from the full installation package from http://privat.swol.de/ChristophGiesselink/Emu48/Emu48v143Setup.zip this is quite easy. All newer or updated KML script files use the BEEP.48 file for the beep patch (older use the BEEP.EXT file). Latest versions of BEEP.48 are prepared for disabling the auto-shutoff. Just remove the first semicolon in the first line, save the file and restart Emu48.

The BEEP.48 file then should look like this:

01477:6300; disable 10 min auto off (internal, undocumented)
017A6:81B1; =makebeep

Cheers

Christoph
