tif to GROB
Message #1 Posted by Benny on 28 Jan 2007, 4:45 p.m.

I like to convert a tif file (or pcx, ...) to a grob file. TIF2GROB creates about 9 GRO files. Isn't there a shorter way? I like to make pictures like the pic files of the equation lib of the hp50.

Thanks in advance.

Go down to the "H" section.

Thanks Tim,

I did the full installation, but the "save as" didn't show a GRO or GRB extention as it should. Beautiful program though.

Go to Tools menu. Click on Options... Open General category. Click on Startup. Finally, check the Use all formats available box. Next time you click on Save as... in the File menu, GRO will be there.

You might also want to go to Tools/Options/Write/File types and check the HP-48/49 GROB box so that GRO is the fourth file type in the Save As... list.

Thanks Gerson,

That's a lot better. I still had to rename the .gro file into an .hp file and sent it to the hp. However, there still appears some kind of inverted image under the main image.

kind regards,

Benny

You're welcome!

When saving as .GRO you'll be prompted to color mode if your original picture is not black & white (2-bit). Choose bynary and check dither. If you're using PaintBrush to edit your diagrams save them in monochromatic bitmap format before converting to GROB format, so you're not prompted for the color mode, I think.

When converting color pictures, it seems the Floyd Steinberg Bynary option is better:

Best regards,

Gerson.

Hi Gerson,

Thanks for the info. The rubbish beneath is disappeared now. The only thing I like to improve is the resolution: for 131x64 the file is about 2k (the source is a 3.7 MB Tif file).

Kind regards,

Benny
