Has HP reached this landmark?

I can't imagine, probably not even close. Casio has sold lots of $5-20 calculators over the past 25 years. Hp has only recently started selling a low priced calculator and has zero market presence in the market as well (ie try to find the low end Hp retail).

Yeah, well, too bad they're not user friendly. A student of mine brought in a Casio graphing calculator this week, and for the life of me (or about two minutes) I could not figure out how to get it into radian mode. I've never been stumped by a calculator before. Kudos Casio: Obscurus Modalus!

Ummm... let me guess: [MODE][MODE][MODE][MODE][2]

That's how it works on my non-graphing, under-$20 2004 fx-115MS, which shows a "D", "R", or "G" annunciator inside a very small square to indicate the angular mode.

Compare that with a 1981 fx-3600P: [MODE][5]

which is clearly printed on the face. The annunciator "RAD" (in place of "DEG" or "GRA") in large block capitals is displayed.

A quarter-century of progress! Will wonders never cease?

Casio has been in the calculator business before HP.
