HP 2225P with DB15 connector pinout needed
Message #1 Posted by Wilhelm Loidl on 29 Dec 2006, 3:24 a.m.

Anyone have the pinout for a Thinkjet 2225P (parallel) printer cable? It is not a standard Centronics, it has a 15 pin D connector at the printer (male). Thanks all.

A while back, I found a posting from Tony Duell that seemed promising. I haven't tried it yet... I would like to know if it works.

Quote:

PC printer port -> HP portable thinkjet cable

Pins 12 and 13 may be swapped - I can't get either of them to change state to check.

I should add that I have great respect for Tony's knowledge and his many contributions; the only reason I think it may not work as-described is Tony's own lack of confidence re pins 12 & 13.

I can assure you that pinout works (I have used a 2225P with that cable). I can't remember what pins 12 and 13 are (some kind of error indicators?), they're not really needed for normal operation, hence my uncertainty

The diagram is how I wired my cable, but looking at it later I thought it looked more 'logical' (i.e. the pins that are used are in the same order at each end of the cable) if you swapped them round.

Hello again - the working assignment:

PC -------------- TJ

1 -----Stb-----> 1

2 -----D0------> 2

3 -----D1------> 3

4 -----D2------> 4

5 -----D3------> 5

6 -----D4------> 6

7 -----D5------> 7

8 -----D6------> 8

9 -----D7------> 9

10 <---Ack------ 10

11 <---Busy----- 11

13 <---Sel------ 12

15 <---Err------ 13

16 ----Init----> 14

12,19 -- Gnd --- 15

Pin 12 from PC-side has to be grounded or the PC thinks, the printer has no paper...

Thank you all for helping me very smart and fast

Wilhelm Loidl
