50g matrix writer
Message #1 Posted by Shu Pong on 18 Nov 2006, 7:50 p.m.

I just got a new 50g and I am using the matrix writer to input the numbers into the linear system solver. In my 48g, if I wanted to use a number out of the stack I would use the from stk soft menu key and it would take me back to the stack where I could select the number I wanted and hit echo and there it was in the matrix.

On the 50g I can only find a "to stk" but there is no "from stk" so how do you solve systems of equations using numbers from the stack.

I already tried shift "to stk" and it works but it will only take the number 1 in the stack, it won't let you pick different numbers from the stack.

Anyone know how to do this?

Press the HIST (M) key.

Or just tap the "up" arrow button.

I wish (although it's not the most important issue in the world) they hadn't wasted a face button on "HIST" considering how redundant it is.

From the standard stack display, yes, but this doesn't give me access to the "interactive stack" from "special environments" such as the matrix writer or equation writer.

I agree. Perhaps it's more important in ALG mode?

BINGO. Played around and found out how.

In the matrix writer press NXT to get to the command ->STK. However, hold down the orange right shift key and press the ->STK at the same time. Voila.

Yeah I already figured that out. You can use either shift button, you can hold it down or just push and release, you always get the same result, just the number 1 line of the stack. The HIST button is what I was looking for. But thanks.
