Question about HP-11C screens
Message #1 Posted by Dave Demers on 14 Nov 2006, 8:15 p.m.

My wife dropped my HP-11C and cracked the LCD. Sigh...
The screen is 3/4 black and has a visible crack. It's serial number is 2320A. My question is would the screen from an HP-12C with SN 2421A be compatible without too much replacement fuss?

Take the batteries out both units and have a look. Early units had symmetrical silver contacts, later machines had a spring on the left and a gold plated pc board contact on the right.

Within the date code range you mention, if both units share the same design battery contacts, the displays are interchangable.

If it's your first time inside a Voyager, it is *not* an easy task. Even after having done dozens of these exchanges over the years, I still dread them, it is one of the most tedious repairs you'll ever encounter.

Thanks for the info, Randy.

If I can save the 11C then the effort will have been worth it.

Cheers
