Need gear for HP-97 Message #1 Posted by Mike Mander on 25 Feb 2006, 3:55 p.m. Hello, Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to buy a new nylon gear for the printer mechanism in an HP-97? A photo... I need the yellow/orange nylon gear - as you can see, it is missing some teeth. I had just bought a new battery pack and an owner's manual off eBay and was planning on opening it to repair the card reader when the printer stopped working too. Stripped gear - bummer... Does anyone have a junk HP-97 for sale that might still have an intact gear? Thanks for the help... Regards, Mike Mander

MoHPC article how-to IMO, there is no such thing as a junk 97, they're all worth something. Most units have the same gear and they're just as prone to fail as the one you have. A few had a black nylon part that didn't shear so easily but those are a needle in a haystack. Make the aluminum replacement and be done with it.

You do have a point about the 97... unless one was thoroughly destroyed, it would always still be worth something for parts! Should have known there would already be some useful info on this website. Sorry for not searching beforehand. My, as they say, bad. Hopefully the companies mentioned still have these parts and ship to Canada. Will try to contact them next week.
