PROOT on 28c/28s
Message #1 Posted by hugh steers on 8 Feb 2006, 4:52 a.m.

Presumably the core functions of the 28C/28S and later 48 models were lifted from the 71b saturn development including the algorithms of the 71b math rom.

however, on the 28c/28s i can't find the equivalent of the 71b "PROOT" function. This is the function that returns the complete set of roots (real and complex) for any polynomial. its looks like this has been left out. why? lack of rom space maybe? this is a very powerful and useful function.

the feature is back on the 48, built in to a special polynomial solve menu - i assume this is the same logic underneath.

or is it there and i just can't find it?

There is no PROOT function in the 28S and it hasn't apeared in the 48S either! PROOT seems to have surfaced in the RPL world not until the 48G.

I'm just looking into the functional differences between the 48S and the 48G and this is one of them.
