I don't understand your obsession with this guy. Why are you so interested in him?

The answer to the question of "who cares" is "every newbie who was warned by reading about the bubba in this forum." Newbies do come here for information. Being newbies they rely upon those who have greater experience.

Just a few days ago another newbie reported that the messages in this forum warned him.

Think of how you would feel if you join a community, subsequently get ripped off; and then you find out that the rip-off artist is well-known but you never heard because "everybody is tired of hearing about him"?

Keep up the good work. His response below reveals his attitude. While trying to insult, he shot himself in the foot. He's his own worst enemy, who would buy from someone who considers his customers "dumb?"

We've all heard tales of unethical second-hand goods dealers, who snap up bargains at garage sales, deceased estates, etc. Rather than share the good fortune of widows and pensioners, they rip them off.

In the past, their activities have been hidden from view. For once, we get a chance to see a bottom-feeder at work, and it holds a certain fascination.

Best,

Thank you so much for the free publicity!

You engineers are amazing... Living in a dream world, mmmmh ? Never heard of free market, huge incomes, dumb customers, or high margins?

Filtering out CoBubba!!!

Using Advanced Search feature on eBay you can filter out Cobubba (and who else you want exlcuded) and let yourself focus on more worthy auctions from sellers who respect themselves AND their customers. I am not willing to spend a single penny with anyone who is a total jerk and a loser.

Just a bit of friendly advice: bad things have a way of happening to people who prey on others, and especially to those who allow hubris to cloud their judgement.

Well, there you have it...this guy has just defined himself as an opportunistic shyster (not that there was ever any doubt).

Actually, the engineers are the ones living in the real world, making real world things work, working with the real world laws of physics, etc.
It's the touchy feely degree in Liberal Interpretive Social-Political Ideology that makes me roll my eyes.

I haven't done an archive search, so I'm not positive if anyone has brought up the obvious question of whether our "Coburlin" is actually the guy selling all that expensive hardware on eBay. What evidence would you accept to prove that was the case? Personally a line like "Yes, you MoHPC weenies, I really do walk among you" appended to one of the eBay Coburlin's auctions would convince me.

The alternative could be that one of our regulars is having lots of fun pulling some of our chains periodically. The implication of regular posting on the part of "Coburlin" is that he reads the forum regularly, Do you think that the genuine slime-bucket degrader of all that is holy about HP calculators would hang out around here?

Just a thought.

Yes, he would. He needs information about the goods he buys and sells, and this is the prime source of it.

I agree. He reads every posting here.

He truly believes that he is doing nothing wrong; and instead that everybody else is naive for adhering to such bizarre notions as "ethics" and "human decency."

If you have that much free time, I can ask you to search for information on the Internet about algorithms, source code listings, and so on!!!

Let's put our free time into better use!
