Thomas Okken's HP 42S simulator running on a Fossil wristwatch Message #1 Posted by Masao Kinoshita on 15 Oct 2005, 10:52 p.m. Here is a picture of Thomas Okken's HP 42S simulator named "free42palmos" running on my Fossil FX2008 Palm OS wristwatch.

Tip: At work, I use a 4-in-one [(hp)] iPaq stylus pen, so that I don't have to pull out the wristband stylus every time I want to use the touchscreen. :-)

That way, the keys could be made bigger, and you don't need to show all the shifted legends until they're actually to be used. But, way cool! I thought my Armitron four-banger watch was neat ~20 years ago (never had an HP-01), but this is beyond Dick Tracy! Thanks!

I'll try to squeeze it in when I get back to working on Free42 (I am moving at the moment so now is not a good time to do any serious work, but hopefully a couple of weeks from now...). - Thomas

Abacus is Fossil's low-end line, and the Abacus WristPDA is functionally nearly identical to the Fossil-branded one, but has a somewhat different case and band. For a while they were available for $80 from TigerDirect; I'm not sure if they still have them. I mostly use the Abacus as a watch, and only use the PDA features if I forget to carry my Treo 650 (which is also running Free42).

There will eventually be a PalmOS port of Nonpareil, but I haven't had time to work on the architectural changes needed to make the simulator core more portable. Edited: 17 Oct 2005, 6:57 p.m.
