a couple days ago i turned the calculator and now i get the "," in lieu of the decimal point in numbers and no longer get the comma at all in numbers of 1,000 or larger...is there a flag that needs to be set?

With the 12c off, press and hold the decimal point key while then pressing the 'ON' key. This toggles the separator being used.
