48G scare
Message #1 Posted by Ed Look on 25 Feb 2005, 9:09 p.m.

I dropped my 48G earlier today, from the height of a tabletop. It was still in its gray nylon case.

Of course, I checked to see if it was damaged. When I first turned it on, there was a blank strip on the LCD screen about two-thirds or three quarters of the way up from the screen bottom. It persisted after power off then power on.

Fortunately, I gently tapped the right edge of the screen and the blue pixels were restored. Ever since I obtained a 48G+, this original 48G began to mean less to me... until I saw that blank stripe across the screen! Even though it has less memory, it still is quite valuable to me.
