Hi, Bob;

what happens when you attempt to purge the variables? Any particular message?

Can you describe the problem, maybe with a keystroke and related resulting message?

Best regards.

Are the files on a RAM card? If so, have you checked to see if the write-protect switch is set to the RAM position? If it's set to ROM then you'll get an error when you try to delete (or save) anything to the port(s) on the card.

Also, are the files you're trying to delete actually directories? If so, then you need to delete any files in them before trying to delete the directory itself. (Unless you're using the MetaKernel, of course; its Filer lets you delete directories and their contents at the same time.)
