Looney Auctions
Message #1 Posted by Les Bell [Sydney] on 6 Dec 2004, 6:24 p.m.

When our local newspaper covered this one ( http://www.smh.com.au/news/Unusual-Tales/Bid-for-grandpas-ghost/2004/12/06/1102182228216.html ) I could hardly believe my eyes, but I found the actual auction at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5539709069.

I'm still highly doubtful of the winning bid of $65,100.00, though.

What next? We all know that disreputable operators have auctioned off "mint" calculators that have, in fact, given up the ghost. Maybe that will be auctioned separately?

And how long before Carly turns up auctioning the spirit of the old HP?

Best,

--- Les Bell

Les,

I doubt the bidder will actually pay for the auction, because he can say he never got the gohst which means that the auction did NOT DELIVER what it promissed. SImple as that!

Oh, they'll pay for it. Remember the casino that bought the grilled cheese sandwich? The same people won this auction. One thing is for sure: e-bay insures a healthy mix of the rich and the ignorant.

I hope the FBI is looking at these "suspicious" eBay auctions especially the ones involving purchases by Casinos, in case it's really a payoff of some sort. Who knows??? It smells a rat in my book.

This smells like money laundry to me...

I agree. My question is how can the casino make money or raise funds as they calimed in the madona sandwich auction?
