HP-01 Simulator
Message #1 Posted by Valter on 8 Nov 2004, 10:02 a.m.

Hi all,

after almost 10 years I finally got my HP-01! Wonderful design and piece of hardware expecially if you think when it was made! Wondering...just to practice on it without running down the batteries would'nt it be nice to have a PC simulator? I think that with some little of time many people of us would benefit from such application.

Please advise

Hi Valter,

There is are HP patents describing the HP01, but that is not the version HP produced later. Eric Smith wants to include the HP01 in his great emulator collection (nonpareil), but he needs the microcode. To get the Microcode, he needs a damaged watch (or at least the rom chips).

A HP01-emulator would be very nice, but I donīt think someone will ever use it to do calculations.

The HP-01 emulator is not going to be very useful. An emulator would be difficult as you need the microcode but a simulator should be fairly easy. But again what are we going to use such a thing for? After all it's not RPN.

Hi all,

useful because i'd love to see HP-01 face on My PC and operate it...then the simulator would be useful for learning how to operate HP-01 friendly and without running down the battery, nothing else. As a HP-01 owner, I know how thirsty this watch is with battery.

Regards
