Brown HP 41 ?
Message #1 Posted by Ronald on 27 Oct 2004, 4:53 p.m.

Hello,

On Ebay (#=3847759895) a "brown" version of the HP 41 is offered. Is this really a rare colour to you knowledge ?

Thank you

Ronald

Hello,

all HP-41s are brown, except the transparent one of Matthias.
Seriously, the color is a very dark brown,
where the newer (halfnut) units are somewhat lighter,
which has the effect that the brown is easier to see.

That's all:-)

Raymond

When the 41 was first introduced HP called it "Ink Brown". So it's always brown.

An issue of the HP Calculator Digest explained the color choice. If my memory is right, a dark color was selected because it is less sensitive to dirt, etc, and also makes the device look thinner. But black was regarded as a cold color, while brown is warmer. And the "coconut" name is consistent with brown, too!

Hi,

That's what I thought already, I looked at my collection (5 different HP41 versions) and ther was no real brown one in, so it's marketing again.........on Ebay, it got my attention, which is good and you confirmed is was as usual, which is also good for I do not have to buy a 6th one, except maybe the transparant one.

Thanks

Ronald
