38G
Message #1 Posted by Frank Eichel on 24 Oct 2004, 4:54 p.m.

Does anyone know how to disassemble a 38G? Mine is dead and I am wondering if it is something that can be easily fixed. Any suggestions?

Please take a look at www.hpcalc.org,
where the 38G is covered in detail.

My suggestion would be to just buy another unit,
because 38Gs are cheap (even on eBay).

Thank you, that might do it. I since discovered I can turn on the unit by pressing (really hard) the ENTER and ON keys simultaneously but I have to use a hard reset to turn it off. The lower half of the keyboard does not respond but the upper does. So, I suspect there is a seating problem between the keyboard and the PCB. I'll try to get it apart when I have more time on my hands.

That seems to be a common problem, Frank. Take a look at this FAQ, and at this thread.
