HP32Sii - information
Message #1 Posted by Artur - Brazil on 19 Sept 2004, 11:18 a.m.

Hi,

Does anybody has some information about the HP32Sii calculator with a alluminum bezel (not the brown one) ?

Best regards Artur

The original 32SII had a brown bezel around the display and orange and blue labels above the keys. It was packaged inside a box.

At some point the 32SII was redesigned. The newer version had a silver bezel around the display, and green and purple labels above the keys. It came in a see-through plastic blister pack. Perhaps the redesigned version was thought to look better in the new packaging.

Thanks!!!

You can see both versions of the 32SII here

In this case, the "old" brown-bezel 32SII was manufactured in Singapore in 1992. The web page indicates that the "new" silver-bezel 32SII was manufactured in Indonesia in 1991. However, I suspect that the date code on the silver-bezel model may have been misinterpreted, and that it may actually have been manufactured in 2001.

There is an earlier post in this forum about 32SII variants here

Don't know exactly when the switch from brown-bezel to silver-bezel occurred. My 32SII is a brown-bezel with a serial number that implies manufacture in Indonesia in 1998. I would assume that the switch was sometime between 1998 and 2001

Hi,

one small addition: The silver-bezel 32SII also came in a cardboard box,
at least in Europe.

The box is blue, with a very bad photograph of the calculator on it.
I assume the carton graphics designer was forced to jump from a bridge...
